Who We Are

We are a smaller congregation but very active.  Living into Christ’s Call for Us and Our Neighbors is not only our mission statement but a commitment to serve our Hendricks County community.

We follow a traditional form of worship typical in many churches of the Presbyterian Church, USA.  Our goal in worship is to feel God’s presence among us and to be inspired to go out and serve in Christ’s name.

A Message from

Rev. Ruth Chadwick Moore

I welcome you to our website and encourage you to visit us and participate in the worship and ministries of this body of Christ we call White Lick Presbyterian Church. The WLPC faith community is warm, welcoming, and open to learning new things. We come from many faith traditions and life experiences, but we our united in our love for each other and for our neighbors.

White Lick is small but mighty. We are active mission partners in the community, we have educational opportunities online and in person, and we like to gather to break bread together at their 1st Sunday lunches after worship.

Our worship is traditional but vibrant, and we don’t take ourselves so seriously that we can’t have a little humor from the pulpit. Our goal in worship is to feel God’s presence among us and to be inspired to go out and serve in Christ’s name.

Our church is in a rural setting and it is a place where we can find a sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the outside world while also be challenged to discover what it means to be a Christian in today’s often fractured world. Our focus in worship and outreach is on Jesus’ calling in Matthew 25. “ For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”

If you have any questions about White Lick and how we do things don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. I look forward to meeting you.

Gratefully,

Rev. Ruth Chadwick Moore

White Lick History

2026 marks the 175th anniversary of the founding of our church by Scottish Presbyterian farmers who worshipped in various homes until the first wooden church was built.

White Lick is a tradition on the corner of 575 and 600 where it has stood since the first worship service held on August 18, 1857. The current brick sanctuary was built in 1881.

The cemetery precedes the church going back to 1837 and contains not only the founding families but many of the early settlers in Hendricks County.
