Presbyterian Women
Ministry
Purpose
The purpose of the Presbyterian Women ministry
is to be forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by
the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
- To nurture our faith through prayer and
Bible Study,
- To support the mission of the church
worldwide,
- To work for justice and peace,
- To build an inclusive, caring community of
women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) and
witness to the promise of God’s kingdom.
History
Our church PW ministry was organized in 1948
and was originally called the Whitelick Booster Society. The
pastor at this time, Ira Stock knew that the women of the church
could perform miracles and accomplish the impossible. The women
organized ice cream socials, bake sales, bazaars, rug weaving and
quilting meetings to raise money for the church.
Meeting
Schedule & Upcoming Events
The Presbyterian Women invite all women to the
annual PW Christmas party on Monday, December 18 at 7:00 p.m. at the
church. Please bring 2-3 dozen cookies and a Christmas ornament for
the cookie & ornament exchange. We will also prepare Christmas fruit
baskets for church shut-ins.
PW meets the third Monday of the month,
7:00-8:30PM, usually at the church. We would like to invite
all the women of Whitelick Presbyterian Church to come to PW. You
don’t have to be a member of the church to belong to PW or help with
any of our activities.
Presbyterian Women also studying Genesis
In the Beginning: Perspectives on Genesis is the year long
study for PW. Less intensive than either of the Disciple classes,
each lesson centers on a segment of scripture around a particular
topic. Lesson #2 for the March 19th meeting will be "Perspectives on
Sin-Adam and Eve" from Genesis 3:1-24. All women are invited to
participate in PW which meets at 7:00 p.m. the third Monday of every
month. Bring your favorite Bible to accompany the study guide which
can be obtained from Beth Harmon or Diana Kirby.
They have arrived!- Whitelick Presbyterian
Church commemorative plates and mugs. Would you like to
have a plate with two pictures of Whitelick Presbyterian Church on
it or a mug with a picture of the church on it also? PW is selling
plates with a picture of the church before the addition and after
addition. The plates also have the history of the church on
the back. Please plan on buying a plate, or a mug or both.
These will make a wonderful and lasting gift for yourself or others.
