Annual Chili Supper a
SUCCESS!
I would like to thank everyone who worked at,
donated to or attended the WPC Presbyterian Women’s (PW) Annual
Chili Supper that was held on Saturday, November 5 th.
The Chili Supper is our largest
annual fundraiser and is
instrumental
in our being able to help provide funds for
purchases within the church and, also, our support several
missions and
causes
outside WPC. This year’s event was an unprecedented success and this
could not have been
possible without everyone’s contributions of
time, (cooking and baking) talent and attendance. Many blessings to
you all!
~Jeannine Fancher, Moderator
Presbyterian Women (affectionately
known as PW) meet the third Monday of the month,
7:00-8:30PM, usually at the church. We would like to invite
all the women of Whitelick Presbyterian Church to come to PW. You
don’t have to be a member of the church to belong to PW or help with
any of our activities. Prior to the meetings you are invited to meet
with the other ladies at Elegance Restaurant in Brownsburg @ 5:30
for a time of fellowship as we share a meal together.
Purpose
The purpose of the Presbyterian Women ministry
is to be forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by
the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
- To nurture our faith through prayer and
Bible Study,
- To support the mission of the church
worldwide,
- To work for justice and peace,
- To build an inclusive, caring community of
women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A) and
witness to the promise of God’s kingdom.
History
Our church Presbyterian Women's ministry was organized in 1948
and was originally called the Whitelick Booster Society. The
pastor at this time, Ira Stock knew that the women of the church
could perform miracles and accomplish the impossible. The women
organized ice cream socials, bake sales, bazaars, rug weaving and
quilting meetings to raise money for the church. Now more than 60
years later the name has changed to Presbyterian Women, but
everything else remains much the same. While we no longer have rug
weavers a couple of the ladies hook rugs and we are still organizing
various events open to the community foroutreach and fellowship,
such as the Chili Supper and bake sale.
Presbyterian Women
They have arrived!- Whitelick Presbyterian
Church commemorative plates and mugs. Would you like to
have a plate with two pictures of Whitelick Presbyterian Church on
it or a mug with a picture of the church on it also? PW is selling
plates with a picture of the church before the addition and after
addition. The plates also have the history of the church on
the back. Please plan on buying a plate, or a mug or both.
These will make a wonderful and lasting gift for yourself or others.
