Deacons

The Deacon’s Ministry is one of caring for and shepherding to the congregation of White Lick Presbyterian Church.  Members and friends of the congregation are divided into parts and a part assigned to each Deacon for that Deacon to care for and support.  To fund their special ministries, aluminum cans are collected for recycling.  The Deacons minister in several areas of the congregation:

·        Poppin’ Ministry – A welcome packet for first time visitors and a visitation ministry.

·        Card Care Ministry – Cards are sent on a weekly basis to those in the hospital, ill at home, for sympathy, encouragement and congrats for any momentous occasion.

·        Flower Ministry – Flowers for the family of newborns (yellow rose), flowers for families of bereaved church members, and for those in extended hospital care.

·        Audio/Video Ministry – Tools for visitation to shut-ins.

·        Meals for the Bereaved – The Deacons gather together food and prepare meals after funerals for the families of the deceased.

·        Service of Communion – Deacons prepare the communion table, prepare Pastor’s visitation kit and dispose of the blessed elements in a proper manner.

Deacons are the liaison between the Pastor and congregation in the event of death or other notifications the Pastor and/or Session deem necessary to make contact to the congregation.

Telephone Prayer Chain
The deacons are organizing a voluntary telephone prayer chain for urgent prayer requests.  This will save each deacon from making so many telephone calls and expedite the requests.  Each person will be responsible for only one telephone
call. Please, men and women consider signing the form in the Welcome Center or contact a deacon.

Outside the church office is the food hamper for the collection of canned goods, boxed cereals, crackers, mac and cheese and other non-perishable food products. Rhea and Bill Fischer continue to help the Deacons in the collection and distribution of the collected food to a worthy cause which is determined when the hamper is full.  Usually the food is taken to Sheltering Wings or the Hendricks County Food Bank. The Deacons thank Rhea and Bill for all their kind and gracious help in support of this Deacon ministry to those in need and all of you for donating the much needed and appreciated food.

The Deacons would like to remind you of one of the fund raising ministries we have to help support our caring for the church family and friends—the Aluminum Can Fund. Just bring your clean, crushed cans in clean garbage bags to the church basement for recycling monies. We appreciate all your help in supporting the Deacon’s with this fund raiser which monies the Deacon’s use for outreach ministries.
