Building & Grounds

First Saturday Workdays

We began as a small group interested in cemetery restoration but we have expanded to include outdoor work projects around the church grounds.  The first Saturday of every month through November we will meet from 9:00-noon to work in the cemetery, weed flower beds, trim fence line, mow grass plus there are some major projects we need to complete this summer including re-install the children’s playground and paint the exterior wood on the south sanctuary entrance.  Check the Buildings and Grounds bulletin board for a list of current projects and bring your favorite tools.  The coffee pot will be on.

Gardening News

We are very grateful to the dedication of a group who worked in some very warm conditions to improve the landscape. Thanks goes to Mike and Angie Cooper, Bill and Rhea Fischer, Dave Halterman, Tom Jackson, Terry and Jerry Meinders, and Roy Vanlandingham. More flowers will be added to the new flower garden as weather and temperatures permit. There is still more work to do; however, we will be waiting for cooler weather and possibly in the spring to add any ornamental trees, shrubs, etc. We are still looking for volunteers to help with this, or anyone who might be interested in making a contribution as a memorial gift. Please contact either Tom Jackson or Carol McGowan
